How to guide

Taking measurements & photographs of your space

1. Draw the room shape. This can be done on paper or your phone and it can be rough, I only need to visualise the shape of the room so I know where each window, door and measurements are. (I will professionally draw up your floorplan with this important information)

2. Get your tape measure and measure the width & length of the room overall and write them on the floorplan you drew previously (If you have indents and coves etc these measurements can come after)

3. Measure each wall segment. And write these down near each line. Leaving out the windows and door openings.

4. Measure each window & door, and the door opening. And write these down near each line. Make sure to measure from each edge of the window and door trims. And for the door opening measurement you can just measure the width of your door or the open gap between the framing.

5. Measure the ceiling, doors and window heights, and the gaps above and below the window. Remember to measure from the floor not the top of your skirting boards

6. Measure the opening & height of your Front or back door. And if there are any obstructions such as staircases or walls close to the door, measure the distance of these from the door. This will be how your furniture will be brought into your home. So we need to make sure they can get inside nicely.

How To Photograph:

1. Photograph each wall straight on. You should have 4-5 photos.

2. Stand in each corner of the room and photograph each opposite corner. You should have at least 4 photos.

6. Measure & photograph any furniture or artwork that will be staying. Measure the width, depth and height.

What you will need: A tape measure, ruler, pencil or pen & phone to take photographs.
